There is so much to see in Australia that it is difficult to select just one location as a highlight. But Lake Argyle would definitely be on the shortlist.
Lake Argyle is one of the largest man-made lakes in the southern hemisphere. When full it contains more water than Sydney Harbour eighteen times over and is classified as an inland sea.
The lake and surrounds are home to a wide variety of wildlife, including 20,000+ freshwater crocodiles. This is a fact they share on the cruise, shortly after getting back on the boat after a swim.
The cruise to which I refer is the Lake Argyle Sunset Cruise (https://www.lakeargylecruises.com/tours/sunset-magic/) which is a must.
In addition to the cruise itself being the best way to take in (at least part of) the vastness of the lake, including the wildlife and history of the area, there is food and drink provided. The experience of floating in the middle of the lake, cheese and biscuits floating past on an inflatable tray, drink in hand was one of those forever memories. And the sunset on the way back to the caravan park was spectacular.
