Bright City Lights

Dusk on a country road,
Passing to night on a highway,
Cars passing with lights getting closer,
Then lights going further away.

Occasional towns,
Dim lights in the windows,
Bright lights in shops,
Town comes, town goes.

Darkness apart from the cars,
Light coming, getting closer.
Going away as a different colour,
Out of sight.

Long time driving,
Driving in darkness,
With occasional lights,
Driving…

A magpie is both black and white

Reflection seen through shameful eyes,
As pigmentation shows its tan.
One's colour can bring self despise
And disrepute to any man.

Unearnt guilt bestowed upon one
Because of darkness of their skin,
Respect from whites has to be won,
For colour can be seen as sin.

A desperate devastation
as lifeless from a rope it hangs
In jail cell self…
