Mount Oberon Sunset

One of my favourite places to take in the sunset is the summit of Mount Oberon in Wilsons Promontory. Mount Oberon has an elevation of 558m above sea level, making it one of the highest (but not the highest) peaks in Wilsons Prom.

You begin the walk at the Telegraph Saddle carpark.  Make sure to arrive there in adequate time to make it to the top well before the sunset.  The return walk is around 7km all up, and although mostly walking on a made road, there are not many flat sections. The trip up is all uphill, and likewise the trip down is all downhill.  The last 100m is up a series of steps and ladders to reach the summit.

From the top you have panoramic views of much of the Prom, looking out over the Tidal River campground and Norman Bay.
