Corinthian Love

This is a poem I wrote in 1994 based on 1 Corinthians 13…

Corinthian Love

Love is patient and love is kind,
It never stops to judge.
It is not governed by our mind,
And never holds a grudge.

It will never be envious,
But always will accept.
With love there is no prejudice,
No record of wrongs kept.

Love always trusts and always hopes,
Love always remains strong,
It’s always there and always copes,
No matter what is wrong.

There is knowledge but it will pass,
All other gifts will fail.
They’re like reflections in the glass,
A lighter shade of pale.

With love there is no need for hurt,
Love always will forgive,
And love will never us desert,
If through God’s love we live.

Faith, hope and love will always stay,
Three gifts from God above,
And I am justified to say,
The greatest gift is love.
