Broken Glass

You live in a room of mirrors,
Everything is reflection.
Memories you cannot escape
Are everywhere that you turn.
You try to reach out and find love
But only hit rejection.
Each new mirror coldly shatters
And your heart will never learn.
In your world of false illusion
You don’t know which things are real.
You look with fear into your heart
With each window that you pass.
Your heart yearns for what you can see
And wants to reach out and feel.
But you crash to reality
And are left with broken glass.
But in the end there’ll be a time
When mirrors all lie broken,
And only true love will survive,
All the frauds will disappear.
For the greatest time of healing
When hurtful words are spoken,
Is when illusions are shattered
And true love drives out the fear.
